Lily Watts 鈥�26 spent her summer on the National Mall working as a curatorial exhibition development intern at the Smithsonian鈥檚 National Museum of American History. By sifting through troves of ancient documents and designing object display layouts, Watts reanimated the past two-and-a-half centuries of American life in preparation for 2026鈥檚 celebration.

While Charli XCX may have started the movement, Brat Summer found an unlikely new figurehead in presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Carter Higgins 鈥�26 returns to the scene of Harris鈥� Brat era to perform a digital and linguistic autopsy, revealing the unstable nature of modern political marketing in the Internet Age.

The creatures great and small of the campus glens find themselves with company this summer through the presence of Professor Pete Guiden鈥檚 motley crew of researchers.

Thanks to the prestigious Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, Professor of Government Kira Jumet will spend the coming academic year in Morocco conducting research on combined military exercises and their side events as multinational spaces of soft power and public diplomacy through the African Lion joint military exercises co-organized by the U.S. and Morocco. She will also connect directly with Moroccan students and academics through teaching at Universit茅 Mohammed VI Polytechnique (UM6P).

Two 麻豆国产AV chemistry students spent part of their summer unraveling a decades-old campus mystery 鈥� the true identity of the beloved peonies in Grant Garden. Saunders left behind scant documentation of what species he used to create his world-renowned hybrids. So, John 鈥淛P鈥� Hoak 鈥�27, Mark Khairallah 鈥�27, and Biology Professor Wei-Jen Chang are sleuthing for clues not in records, but in DNA.

Large language models (LLMs) have been at the forefront of the zeitgeist ever since publicly available AI programs like OpenAI鈥檚 ChatGPT burst onto the scene. Three 麻豆国产AV College computer science majors are spending their summer researching this cutting-edge technology alongside Professor Thomas Helmuth 鈥�09.
